Hey Fit Family Loungers!!! Remember my goals post? Yeah well here I am sharing how I plan to achieve them..
Goal 1 – Run 3 Half Marathons with a goal time of 2:30 or better – So I am currently registered for 4 races in 2013 (CUCB 10 MILER, NIKE DC, ZOOMA ANNAPOLIS & DIVAS DC). I may add another (RICHMOND HALF MARATHON) as my goal is to run no more than 5 races this year. After running the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler last year I became a Jeff Galloway Run/Walk Method convert. I am now running 4:1 intervals to help me achieve my race pace & PR in one of the 3 half marathons on my schedule. For the month of January, my goal is to just build my base and get comfortable with the 4:1 intervals and run a consistent pace for training (10-12min miles depending upon the distance). It would be awesome if I could run faster in EACH of them but hey.. I’m going to let my legs lead and listen to my body. My goal race is Zooma Annapolis and I hope to run that in 2:30 or faster in that race. Why Zooma? Well it was my FIRST half marathon in 2010 and my experience wasn’t that great. Trapped behind a downed runner & then suffering from dehydration after & throwing up my insides to the point I couldn’t even enjoy the remainder of the activities.. No Bueno.. So call it my REDEMPTION race if you will..
Goal 2 – Continue Outstanding Instructor Rating for Jazzercise – Annual Evaluations have to be completed by June 30th. I plan to continue to step my game up in my classes. Challenge myself & my students so they can continue to be successful. Continue to be engaged and step out my comfort zone and engage new students even more. Also I will begin teaching at a new location as an associate so this will expose me to another set of students. I’ve taught at the location in the past as a sub but now I will be a regular team member with my own class weekly. I’m beyond excited about this opportunity because I get to work with a great team of instructors who can help me grow and the owner is amazing!!
Goals 3 – 5 All go hand in hand..
- Drop Cholesterol levels below 200 – I am THIS (13 pts) close!!! My doc is so proud of me.. It’s hard to do this without medication when it is hereditary but I am DETERMINED.. and It will happen this year!
- Lose 25lbs by May 25 – My born day.. My 40th Birthday.. this is VERY doable.. That’s 5lbs per month.. LET’S GO!
- Eat Clean in 2013 – this is probably the easiest YET hardest thing for me to do.. but I WILL make better choices and to help me out I’ve joined a challenge over at Healthy Heddleston
With my increased level & intensity of exercise (running, jazzercise, yoga, strength training) coupled with “eating cleaner” will help me to lose the weight in a healthy way (5lbs per month) and help to bring my cholesterol down. I am not on any type of FAD diet or doing anything extreme. I’m working with my doctor and my RD to make sure I make smart healthy choices. I’m not giving up CARBS but I will choose BETTER carbs for my diet. I am already a veggie lover but am committed to trying new veggies (so if you have a fav drop it in the comments so I can check it out). In making all of these changes for myself, it will also help my family in eating healthier. I switched out the bread we normally buy back in Aug/Sept. I was met with a bunch of sour faces. I refused to buy anything else so THEY ATE IT. Guess what.. THEY LOVED IT.. not just liked it but LOVED IT!!! Even Mama BK so that says a lot.. Why did I do it? I got tired of buying a white bread & wheat bread. Small changes.. nothing drastic.. small reasonable changes are met with some resistance but easy to convert than if I were to try to do a bunch of them at once but I digress.
So you will see a lot of posts regarding my training and I’ll be posting my running playlists & Jazzercise class playlists as well. I’ll only weigh in ONCE a month which will be on the first day of the month. I’ve done the January weigh in and I’m going with 185lbs as my starting weight. The picture below will explain why LOL
Yes this was all done on the same day within 5 mins.. since it gave me 3 different weights I went with the middle AND I’m buying a new scale.. Ha!
I started yesterday on my official base mileage plan to run 48 miles this month. I got in 6.41 miles and I have 41.59 left to go..
If you use the Nike + app let me know we can be friends. I’ve decided to NOT reactivate my daily mile account.. WHY? Just too many things to keep up with & sync/update.. I don’t have the time for that.. because one of my goals for family is to BE MORE PRESENT which means a lot less time on the net, cell phone, etc. More about that to come later
