Change…One Change

Hey folks!!!

Oh I’m back in the swing of things.. Teaching Jazzercise again FULL SWING!!! OMG I’m on “down time” so to speak.. after teaching 4 days straight!!! I teach again on Saturday ack!

Now that I’m back into teaching and running 1-2x a week.. I had to make a few changes in my diet so that I truly don’t crash and burn!  I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Vega Protein by a dear friend a few months ago but I couldn’t commit to it then.  I don’t know maybe it was the way I made my shakes or the flavors that I had.. but it was a fail.  Fast forward to 2014.. I was invited along with a few of my other #SweatPink Ambassadors to give the Vega One a try for a new campaign.. #OneChange

I was so excited and those of you that follow me on Instagram & Twitter surely have been privy to my concoctions! LOL

So we were asked to pick a persona we identify with.. and welp.. I identify with 3 out of the 4 of them.  Don’t judge me! LOL

  • Serial Snacker: Yes, you can snack and feel good about giving in. Your stomach talks to you all day (it never shuts up!) Your bag or desk drawer is strategically stocked with a wide assortment of get-me-through-to-the-next-meal morsels. You struggle to turn down a slice of office birthday cake—hungry or not. And the 3 PM growlies can lead to pre-dinner nachos or a midnight snack over the kitchen sink.

Solution Idea: Grab a Vega One Bar.  Ha! this is soooo ME.  I am a snacker and if my day has been hectic.. you can forget it!!! I will eat the pantry at my desk (yes I made a pantry) and the one in our office kitchen DRY!!! I’m so trying to do better and making a smoothie has helped me with snacking!

  • Number Cruncher: All calories are not created equal—make them count, nutritionally!Less is more, right? So you keep score of everything you eat, as you eat it, on an app on your smartphone. Food and exercise are the columns on your weekly balance sheet, and you’re an expert strategist when calculating how to make up for every indulgence.

Solution Idea: Make a Vega One Shake! OK let me tell you I gained 20 pounds not being able to exercise because of my injury.. it was actually closer to 30 but when I realized that I immediately changed how I was eating and got out of the funk.. I could not NOR would I allow myself to destroy everything.. Depression & injury be damned..I was going to win.. I’ve been tracking my food thru MFP & I’ve been using my FitBit.

My Vega One Shakes have been hit or miss.. I would use too much or the wrong liquid for my palette.. I knew I had a few winners when Princess J would finish her serving & come back for seconds! To date my favorite has been 2 scoops Vega One French Vanilla, 1 banana, 2 cups spinach, 1 orange,  a few springs of basil and 10 oz orange juice (usually use only 6-8 oz but my fruit was frozen solid so I had to add more liquid.. if your fruit isn’t frozen solid you can use less juice).

Let me tell you this had me feeling like a kid again it was so smooth and creamy like a dreamsicle pop!!! Definitely a winner.. especially when Mama BK says.. oh it does taste good..

  • Weekend Splurger: Don’t skip the party—just party smarter. Your best healthy-eating intentions crumble without the structure of Monday to Friday. By Sunday night, you feel like you need a weekend to recover from your weekend. Between late nights, sleeping in, social outings with friends, and catching up after a busy week, it seems impossible to eat right. Monday is your day to reset the dial.

Solution Idea: Make a Vega One Shake. So this is me on the weekends all the time.. BUT I must say having a shake fills me up and pretty much curbs my appetite so I’m not reaching for every appetizer and having a huge meal with multiple glasses of wine.  I have my shake in the am post my workout and then I eat sensibly thru the day before I head out.  It’s definitely a winner and my fav to have post workout is Spinach (2 cups), Mango (1 cup), Pineapple (1 cup), Anjou Pear (1 cup), 1 scoop Vega One French Vanilla and coconut water (12 oz). I added avocado as well once.. but didn’t need it.  The Vega One was enough and this was good & creamy too!  This recipe yields 2 16 oz shakes.. and I drink 16oz and share the other 16 with the family.  The photo below shows me being greedy and I drank 24oz by myself LOL it was a hard workout day!

wpid-20140111_072152.jpgI’ve noticed since I took the #onechange challenge that my energy is always up.  After returning to teaching & running post achilles injury, my recovery time is a lot faster! I’m so excited about this and it’s definitely #onechange I will continue and make it a permanent change in my lifestyle.

Vega One is now a part of my lifestyle and I’ve purchased a tub of the French Vanilla & Chocolate.  I forgot to take a picture of it but I made a Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie.  It was amazeballs!!! Kids thought it was chocolate milk.. when Bruce Leroy was done and I told him what it was he couldn’t believe it.  He was mad of course.. but got over it and finished the little I left in my glass LOL.  Ingredients for that include, 12 oz Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk, 2 frozen bananas, 2 scoops creamy peanut butter & 2 scoops Vega One Chocolate.. This also satisfied my sweets craving.. definitely a win win situation!

Did I mention that Vega One is gluten free, vegan, soy & dairy free???? HOW AWESOME IS THAT??? it’s plant based protein and it’s delicious!!!

I wouldn’t be ME if I didn’t share the ugly with you as well.. and this was my shake that was an absolute BUST.  OMG it was soo hard to go down but I took it to the head like a champ! LOL It wasn’t as sweet as the others and tasted kinda chalky to me.

Ingredients, 1 cup kale, 1 cup spinach, 1 cup frozen mixed berries, 1 cup almond milk & 2 scoops Vega One French Vanilla

Are you looking to make #onechange in 2014? Why not give Vega One a try.. I love that the single packets are available to purchase so you can try the different flavors before committing to one.  We all know we are afraid to try something new.. but this is #onechange I don’t regret making and it’s improved our family quality of life for the better.

Weekend splurger all the way. I fall by the wayside before noon on Saturdayj

  3. My name is Organized Noise and I am a serial snacker. I feel obligated to grab something whenever I go into the kitchen. White grapes, cookies and Keebler fudge sticks do not stand a chance in my fridge.
